Jessica's 2010 notes:
In 1977, I was living in Sacramento, CA. At that time it was a beautiful, heavily-wooded area, with a small city center, and a warmth of character that I fell in love with. It inspired me and healed me. This music is the result of my several years in that magical land.
At that time I had no piano, but there was a recording studio there, so I saved my money and recorded my music there. It was such a pleasant time for me that the music is full of surprises and imagination. I played like the wind, with all the youthful exhuberance that still burns in my heart and hands.
On one particularly unusual track which I wrote words for, I was joined by a magnificent vocalist and friend, Joyce Diamond. She passed away in her prime creative years, and this is perhaps the only time you’ll hear her wondrous talent.
I actually had forgotten that I had made this recording, but I found it just recently in a box of tapes and was amazed at what I heard. I had to share this with the world!
I wrote all of the music here, and I am heard on piano, drums, key-bass, key-vibes, and conga drums. Joyce Diamond joins me on You and I.
There are no enhancements or click-tracks. I played drums first on most pieces, and added bass second. Nothing is sped up or in any way digitized. Back then, we didn’t have computers in studios, and synthesizers were very primitive, as they are even now. This was my path in 1977:
To convince people that we are all Golden Lights, all glowing with life and love, and all the same. It remains my path.
